For the last time, I stood in our front yard and watched a shuttle launch into space. The children walked down to the river to watch with thousands of other people from all over the world. We have enjoyed this era of the Space Program.

The last shuttle roll out
A shuttle roll out usually occurs just after midnight. For years, my husband worked the night shift at the Space Center. He has been on site for many roll outs over the years. This year, the Space Center has issued passes to allow family and friends to see a roll out. The time of roll out was moved up to 8 pm. We were able to go out and see the last shuttle roll out of the VAB towards the launch pad about 3 miles to the east. For those of us who have been involved in the Space program for years, it was still quite a sight to see.

Endeavour's last launch
My husband was able to get a pass for us to go out to watch the last launch of Endeavour from the Turn Basin viewing area at the space center. It is about 3 miles from the launch pad. It was a cloudy day, and so pictures were few.
I'll Tell the World that I'm a Christian
I'll Tell the World that I'm a Christian
by Baynard L Fox
(1958)
I'm not ashamed, His name to bear.
I'll tell the world, that I'm a Christian,
I'll take Him with me anywhere.
I'll tell the world, how JESUS saved me,
and how He gave me life brand new;
And I know that if you trust Him,
that all He gave me, He'll give to you.
I'll tell the world, that He's my Saviour,
No other one, could love me so!
My life, my all is His forever,
And where He leads me I will go.
For when He comes, and life is over,
For those who love Him there's more to be;
Eyes have never seen the wonder,
that He's preparing, for you and me.
Oh, tell the world, that you're a Christian,
Be not ashamed, His name to bear.
Oh tell the world, that you're a Christian,
And take Him with you anywhere.

ROMANS 10:15
And how shall they preach,
except they be sent?
as it is written,
How beautiful
are the feet
of them that preach
the gospel of peace,
and bring glad tidings
of good things!

Discovery for the last time
Our town was packed yesterday with people from all over wanting to view one of the final Space Shuttle Launches. They are something quite special to see, even by someone who has watched rockets launch from KSC since childhood. We didn't venture down to the river. We are thinking we will next time. Most times we just watch the launches from our front yard, sometimes we have had passes to watch from the viewing stands at KSC. This time we were in the front yard as Discovery lifted off for its final trip into space.
First, we hear the crowds roar from the river, and then we see the shuttle 'pop' out of the trees.
